Moving into a new home comes with hundreds of decisions.
What should make the move? Where should everything go? Which kitchen cabinet makes the most sense for everyday dishes? Where will the kids drop their backpacks? What needs to be accessible on the first night?
None of these decisions is particularly difficult on its own. Together, they take an enormous amount of time and energy during an already busy season.
At Live Organized by Erin, our Turnkey Relocation service is designed to take much of that planning, decision-making and coordination off your plate. Depending on the project, our involvement can begin before your current home is even listed and continue until your new home is unpacked, organized and ready for everyday life.
Before we ever start unpacking, we take the time to get to know you. We want to understand your family, your routines and how you actually live. Then we use that knowledge to handle as many of the details as possible on your behalf.
The goal isn’t simply to unpack your boxes. It’s to give you back time and energy while we get your new home ready for real life.
You don’t have to wait until moving day to bring in a professional organizer.
For some clients, our involvement begins before the home is even listed. Moving is a natural opportunity to take a thoughtful look at what you own and decide what you actually want to bring into your next home.
We can work alongside you to declutter and edit before packing begins. Items you no longer want can be donated, sold, passed along or discarded rather than packed into boxes.
That means less to pack, less to move and less to unpack on the other side.
More importantly, when we begin organizing the new home, we’re working with belongings you’ve already decided you want to keep.
A successful move-in isn’t just about knowing where your belongings fit. We want to know where they make sense for you.
Who cooks? Who packs lunches? What do your kids need to be able to reach on their own? Do you entertain often? Do you buy household staples in bulk? Where do backpacks naturally land at the end of the day? What do you need within reach every morning?
These conversations help us understand how your household functions before we begin making decisions about the new home.
Once we know that, you don’t need to answer a question about every plate, towel or pair of shoes.
We can make many of those decisions for you.
Whenever possible, we familiarize ourselves with the new home before moving day.
We look at storage, take measurements when needed and identify the spaces that need to function first. We talk through priorities and make the important decisions together ahead of time.
For one family, that may mean having the kitchen and pantry ready first. For another, it may be the primary closet and children’s rooms. A family moving during the school year may need clothing, backpacks, snacks and morning essentials accessible immediately.
We can also create a labeling plan for the move. Boxes are clearly marked and can be color coded based on where they belong in the new home. That gives the movers and our team an easy visual system to follow when everything starts coming through the door.
We’re not waiting until the house is full of boxes to start asking where everything should go.
We already have a plan.
Moving day can quickly become a steady stream of questions.
Where does this box go? Which bedroom is this furniture for? Where should the TV be installed? Who is meeting the installer? What needs to happen first?
When we’re involved in the move, we can be on site to help manage those details.
Because much of the planning has already happened, movers aren’t relying on you to direct every box as it comes through the door. Our team can help make sure belongings land in the correct spaces from the beginning.
And we don’t necessarily have to wait until the moving truck is empty to get started.
As boxes arrive in spaces that are ready, our organizing team can begin unpacking and setting up the home while the movers continue unloading. Instead of treating moving and unpacking as two separate phases, the work can happen simultaneously.
When plans have been finalized in advance, we can also help coordinate other vendors coming in and out of the home. If TV placement has already been decided, for example, we can oversee the installation while the rest of the move continues around it.
If you already have a team in place, we work alongside them. We can coordinate with your designer, movers, contractors and other service providers so everyone is working from the same plan.
The goal is fewer questions coming back to you and fewer details for you to manage.
Getting everything out of a box is only part of the job.
As we unpack, we group like items together and think about how each space will actually be used. Everyday items should be easy to reach. Less frequently used pieces can live higher or farther back. Categories should make sense to the people using them.
In the kitchen, that may mean creating zones for cooking, food storage, lunch prep and snacks.
In a closet, it means considering how someone gets dressed and what they reach for most often.
In a bathroom, daily essentials stay accessible while backstock and less frequently used items have their own place.
We aren’t simply trying to empty boxes as quickly as possible.
We’re setting up the home so it makes sense from the beginning.
Homes don’t function one room at a time.
The kitchen connects to the pantry. The entry connects to backpacks, shoes and everyday essentials. Kids’ closets connect to morning routines. Storage areas need to support the spaces you use every day.
When we’re involved throughout the home, we can think about how those spaces work together.
That might mean keeping entertaining pieces near the kitchen rather than wherever there happens to be an empty cabinet. It could mean creating a natural landing place for incoming items near the entry or deciding where household backstock should live before it slowly spreads throughout the house.
Instead of finding temporary places for things and reorganizing later, we make those decisions as the home comes together.
For some clients, the best move is one they don’t have to manage at all.
Once we’ve done the planning and made the important decisions together, you don’t necessarily need to spend moving day standing in the new home answering questions.
Imagine leaving for a few days while we handle the move-in.
The movers are directed. Vendors know where they need to be. Boxes are unpacked as they arrive. The kitchen takes shape. Closets are set up. Kids’ spaces begin to feel familiar. Everyday essentials have a home.
Then you come back.
Instead of walking into stacks of boxes and several weekends of unpacking ahead of you, you walk into a home that has been thoughtfully set up around the way your family lives.
That’s what full-service move-in organizing can look like.
Earlier than you might think.
We can come in before your home is listed to help declutter and edit. We can continue that process before packing begins. We can plan for the new home, help manage the organizational side of moving day, coordinate with the team you already have in place, and unpack and organize once your belongings arrive.
The earlier we’re involved, the more of the process we can take off your plate.
But if the movers have already left and you’re staring at a house full of boxes, it isn’t too late.
We can step in at any point and help turn the house you’re unpacking into a home that functions.
Moving will always come with decisions. You just don’t have to make all of them yourself.
Professional move-in organizing gives us the opportunity to understand your household first and then carry that knowledge through the entire transition.
We help you decide what comes with you. We plan for where it will go. We keep moving day moving. Then we unpack and create a home designed around the way you actually live.
The result isn’t simply an unpacked house.
It’s a home that feels settled, functions well and is ready for real life.
